By encouraging those in the Hispanic community to participate in their community and to offer good examples of their Salvadoran as well as other Latino cultures and heritage within the United States the Salvadoran American Leadership and Educational Fund addresses the education end of the mission. It is SALEF’s hope that those in the Latino/Hispanic communities and grow and advance within the political and economic environments.It is suggested by SALEF that students participate within the community by volunteering hours and is actually part of the application process. The “Fulfilling Our Dreams Scholarship Fund” offered by SALEF will award scholarships to those that are part of the Salvadoran, Central American and other Hispanic cultures. The award can be anything from $1000 through $5000 and is handed out every year. No matter your immigration status may be, it is possible for you to apply. Another scholarship from the Salvadoran American Leadership and Educational Fund is the Health Career Scholarship. This is available for graduating high school seniors as well as students enrolled in community colleges, vocational or trade schools, as well as universities. Anyone pursuing a Master in Public Health degree or enrolled in medical and dentistry schools may also apply. This scholarship is backed by the California Wellness Foundation.Also available for general studies is the High School Student Scholarship and the General Field Scholarship.
